We are pleased to inform you that we have acquired ICEL S.r.l., based in Castellanza, Italy. ICEL S.r.l., founded in 1960 as a family business, specializes in the development and manufacture of high-quality film capacitors. The management of ICEL S.r.l. will remain in the proven hands of the founding family after the takeover and is thus secured for the coming years.

This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone in the history of the Widap Group. It significantly expands our product and service portfolio in the field of passive components and enables us to offer you an even wider range of first-class solutions.

Last week we celebrated our 45th company anniversary with an eventful trip!

Our journey began in Schmitten, from where we made our way to the impressive Rhine Falls. There we enjoyed a boat trip and were inspired by the power of nature. The subsequent visit to Smilestones Miniature World in Schaffhausen was particularly exciting for us as a manufacturer of braking resistors and railroad applications. The fascinating model railroads and the guided tour behind the scenes gave us an interesting insight into the technology and control of the system.

After a pleasant aperitif, we took the liner to Diessenhofen, where we were able to visit our new premises. A highlight was the evening in a remote forest hut - a perfect end to an eventful day.

The next morning, we continued our journey to the island of Mainau, where we learned a lot about the island's unique flora and fauna during a guided tour.
After lunch together, it was time to say goodbye again - but the memories of this weekend will remain,

According to studies, the energy consumption for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) in rail transport account for up to one third of the total energy consumption!
The innovative PTC fan heater from Widap is one of the latest  innovations in the field of heating driver's cabins and passenger compartments. Due to the self-regulating PTC property, only the required power is used at any given time, resulting in significant energy savings! 🔌⚡

Compared to conventional fan heaters the PTC fan heater comes up with even more advantages:

✅ extremely short preheating time
✅ smaller temperature fluctuations thanks to dynamic PTC property ensures a more constant and pleasant room climate
✅ additional safety level, as the heating power decreases when the temperature rises in the event of a fault, preventing the temperature of the housing and the heating air from rising too high
✅ downtime is reduced to virtually zero

Just in time for the start of the season, the revision of a passive harmonic filter was completed and then brought to the Portes du Soleil ski resort by means of a spectacular helicopter flight. The subsequent commissioning by our service technicians with the active support of Bühler SA went smoothly and the chairlift was able to start operating as planned.

Our Christmas donation this year goes to the BuduAid relief organisation. BuduAid is a small, regional relief organisation, founded by 4 friends with the aim of providing a better life for the 250 inhabitants and especially the children of Budu Cantemir in north-eastern Romania. Despite the enormous poverty, the people are extremely hospitable, helpful, and grateful for any support that makes their lives a little easier.

We are pleased to announce that our Christmas donation this year goes to "Bienenhaus - für Mutter & Kind GmbH" in Bern. The aim of this company is to run a small social institution for the care of children, in particular the joint care of mothers/fathers of young children and pregnant women. Children who are born or grow up in difficult circumstances must be prepared for an independent and responsible life in structures and benefit from optimal care.

From November 2020, energy meters will have to comply with a new safety standard - DIN EN 62052-31. The safety standard reduces the risk of injury, for example through electric shocks, overheating or sharp edges on the housing.

Our DIZ energy meters already meet the safety standard DIN EN 62052-31: For more energy efficiency and safety.

We hereby inform you that today (15.07.2020) we have not seen any restrictions in our business activities.

We continuously review our production and supply chains and work closely with our partners to maintain our supply continuity in the best possible way.

Should we nevertheless identify bottlenecks in certain product groups that affect our customers' orders, we will proactively contact them and suggest alternative solutions.

We enjoyed a great day skiing in Grindelwald with beautiful weather and optimal snow conditions. For the more adventurous among us, there was even a flight with the First Flyer and First Glider at the end.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Widap AG, Widap, together with the branch office in Schaffhausen and Widap electronic components in Germany, undertook a two-day company outing to Milano.
Last month the excursion started by coach from Schmitten. After a stopover in Lucerne, where the staff from Schaffhausen boarded, the journey continued south. At about 14 o'clock we reached the headquarters of the S.I.R. Società Italiana Resistor, which was acquired in 2018 and where we were already expected. During a delicious aperitif, all employees had the opportunity to get to know the employees of the S.I.R. better. Afterwards the tour of the S.I.R. production took place, where Alessandro Decio, the managing director of the S.I.R., was able to show us at his presentation the numerous advances and optimizations that he and his employees have implemented since the takeover by Widap. This was followed by a speech by Paolo Lo Nigro, owner and managing director of Widap, who once again mentioned the most important milestones of the last 40 years and looked forward to a promising future. The conclusion of the company tour was rounded off with an exciting guest lecture by Peter Colat, record holder in Apnoea diving.
Later we were brought by car to our hotels in the centre of Milan. After everyone could relax and freshen up in the hotel, all 75 guests met in the restaurant "I Chiostri di San Barnaba". The restaurant, which is housed in a monastery built in 1466, offered an impressive and wonderful atmosphere and spoiled us, last but not least, with a typical northern Italian menu. After dinner some explored the nightlife of Milano, while the others went back to the hotels.
The next day we had the opportunity to explore the sights and history of Milano on a guided tour of the city and stroll through the famous shopping streets, before we soon went back to Switzerland and Germany and all look back on a successful company outing.

Widap would like to thank its employees, customers and suppliers for their many years of loyalty and looks forward to the coming years.

We are pleased to inform you that we have entered into a sponsoring collaboration with apnoea diver Peter Colat (freediving.ch). Peter Colat is multiple Swiss champion and record diver in freediving, and was with holding breath for more than 21 minutes under water, Guinness World Record holder. His diving record is an incredible 155.4m and 110.2m under ice without a suit!

We are looking forward to the common projects and especially to go further together.

Widap AG is pleased to announce the acquisition of S.I.R Società Italiana Resistor in Catellanza, Italy.

S.I.R has been a long-standing supplier of Widap AG and employs approximately 12 employees. The acquisition expands our resistor technology in the EU.

We look forward to fulfilling your requirements even more extensively in the future.

Trielec AG was integrated in Widap AG on 01.01.2018 which is from now on responsible for the distribution of the entire Trielec product range.

The Widap AG company outing took place on 6 October 2017. We all went by coach to Winterthur to the “Swiss Science Center Technorama”. Our employees were able to learn about real phenomena in nature at more than 500 experimentation stations and countless laboratories. The highlight was the electricity demonstration which allowed us to experience the formation of lightning and the effect of high voltages and strong currents at close quarters. Up to 3 metre long lightning arcs were formed using the 1.2 million volts generated by the 2.5 m long Tesla coil.
After this very exciting demonstration we all went off to lunch in the Schlosshalde. We then visited the museum in the adjacent Schloss Mörsburg which offered fascinating insights into the life of earlier inhabitants. The excursion continued on on foot to Goldenberg.
The company outing ended with an excellent evening meal in Restaurant Goldenberg with its wonderful view over the city of Winterthur.

ELKO-Systeme AG was integrated in Widap AG on 01.09.2017 which is from now on responsible for the distribution of the entire ELKO product range.

Widap AG acquires with retroactive effect to 01.01.2017 the ELKO-Systeme AG. As a result, Widap AG now also offers a wide range of devices and services for measuring instruments and systems for controlling and optimising the consumption of electrical energy.

The resistors of the RXLG-H-F series are high-power resistors in an aluminium casing. RXLG-H-F resistors are intrinsically safe and short circuit-proof resistors for the operation in frequency converters. Due to their compact shape, further possibilities of application are possible.

The Widap Electronic Components presented its products at the PCIM Europe, the international exhibition and conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Motion, Renewable Energy and Energy Management. The exhibition was successful and recorded high visitor numbers. Furthermore, the exhibition provided an ideal occasion to communicate with regular customers, new customers, suppliers and partners.

Estec Elektrotechnik AG was integrated in Widap AG on 01.01.2017 which is from now on responsible for the distribution of the entire Estec product range.

The newly engineered solid state contactors ACS and DCS were designed as a non-wearing and maintenance-free alternative to mechanical contactors for railway applications in AC and DC systems. As no maintenance is required, remarkable cost savings will be achieved in high cycling applications .

The new CrossBoard® is the modular system solution with which safe power distribution up to 125A can be quickly and easily realised, especially in machine and plant engineering.

The new resistors of the HPRF series are high-power resistors in an aluminium casing. HPRF resistors are intrinsically safe and short circuit-proof resistors for the operation in frequency converters. Due to their compact shape, further possibilities of application are possible.
